I’ve just learned of the unfortunate action taken at Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, the Episcopal seminary in Chicago. Three days ago they ceased admissions and sacked the entire faculty. The job market for theologians and biblical scholars is bad enough these days…closing schools just ain’t right. Props to Garrett-Evangelical (the UMC seminary in Chicago) for taking in the current SWTS students. And best wishes to the faculty and staff as they seek employment elsewhere, as well as all the other theological job-seekers out there who now have tenured competition.
